I absolutely love burgers! However, I haven’t had a red meat burger in a while as we are trying to make healthier choices and eat more plant-based foods. Of course, we are not going completely plant-based, however, slow and steady changes can make a difference. So we’ve swapped our regular burgers for veggie burgers. I’m taking these to lunch this week and they are a delicious meal that I absolutely look forward to each day. While everyone else is chowing down on their take-out or fast food, I toast my buns, heat up my veggie burger, and top it with my sautéed mixture and enjoy!
Morningstar Prime Grillers with Cheese and Sautéed Mushrooms
5 Morningstar Veggie Burgers
5 Slices cheese of your choice – I used sharp cheddar
2 Cups chopped mushrooms
1 Cup chopped onion
8 slices chopped jalapeno
10 leaves of lettuce
5 Buns – toasted
2 Tablespoon oil
- Cook the veggie burgers according to the package directions. For me, I cooked mine in the skillet with 1 tablespoon of oil until they were heated thoroughly.
- Sautee veggies in oil over medium heat until onions are translucent. I also added seasonings to the veggies – Salt, Pepper, Onion Powder, Garlic powder, Spike.
- Assemble your burger (or pack for lunch).
